About Me

with 13 comments

Since 1998 I’ve been lucky enough to stay home and raise Jane. In 2001 Alexander came on the scene. When my daughter was born for the first time ever I knew what to do. I spent about a gazillion years in school and sometimes I wonder if more wouldn’t be better. Maybe a PhD would help my mad
dusting skills?

I adore my husband. Seriously, I know it sounds stupid and sappy and whatnot but, really and truly *I like him*. My greatest hope is that our son grows into the man my husband is. He makes me a better person, our children look like him (beautiful) and he travels just enough with his work that I realize we’re hopelessly interdependent. I like it that way.

I have strong opinions. I’m easily outraged and often snide. I’m sometimes wrong and seldom apologetic. It’s my best worst asset. My degrees are in Kinesiology and in Education. I know how to fuel and move my body and I know why it matters.

In 1998 armed with a $500 prepaid Visa I opened an eBay store called The Better Bag Lady. In a few short months I was in the black and working exactly 2 hours a day. Why two hours? Because that’s how long nap time was. When the kids went to school I started doing seminars, teaching others how to harness eBay. I taught them how to work smart, not hard. I continued to sell on eBay until the summer of 2008. I still love public speaking.

You’ll find me blogging about sustainability at Celsias as well as Green Options. I write about pop
culture at National Lampoon where no one cares that I’m barely literate but it’s an awful lot of fun. Just like parenting. The LA Moms are the most recent group to pull me on board.

I really do want to hear from you. I can be reached at onlineauthor [at] gmail [dot] com, since I’m an iPhone girl, you can expect a super quick response.

  4. Hi Jessica,

I just wanted to write and introduce myself and tell you I love reading your blog. I especially enjoyed your entry on The Zak about “Sex with Strangers is Hotter than Marriage.” I work in PR for the Oscar Mayer Lunchables brand and love to read the newest on the mom front. Just wanted to write and introduce myself and look forward to new entries to come.

  11. You know, I admire my dad too. Not to say I don’t admire my mom– but for when it comes to being a great person, I’d love to be my dad.

I hope I inspire the same kind of approval in a special someone that your husband inspires in you. :O

Related: Being an eBay mogul is awesome. I would’ve loved to do that– if I thought I would enjoy it. :3 Did you buy the bags IRL and sell them online or buy online and sell online?
